To better understand morals, one can look at the differences between morals and laws. Morals and laws differ in that laws tend to be absolute and morals are personal views regarding what is right and wrong. Although there are consequences for the violation of laws, such as penalties, fines, and serving time in jail or prison, the only consequence for violating a moral, other than embarrassment, is the potential loss of or damage to a relationship.
