The classroom is the workplace of teachers, instructional aides, and other education staff, in addition to serving as the primary environment where students learn. Workplace health and safety is important because it affects the quality and efficiency of the education provided. It is accomplished by practicing accident prevention, frequent safety education, and reinforcement of safety regulations. You have the responsibility to maintain a safe classroom and instruct students in safe classroom practices.

Most work-related injuries are the result of employees ignoring safety precautions. Injuries are most likely to occur when employees take shortcuts, violate safety regulations, or simply don’t take safety seriously. Your school district has the responsibility and obligation to comply with all safety regulations to ensure workplace safety. The school must enforce compliance with all district, state, and federal regulations and will take necessary action to obtain this compliance.
