After a Crime has Occurred

Upon discovery of a crime on a school campus or on district owned property, district administration should notify local law enforcement and WeTip. The sooner the information is provided to the proper authorities, the chances of solving a crime are greatly increased.

The following steps should be taken upon discovery of vandalism, graffiti, theft, arson, burglary or any crime:

  1. Follow district reporting procedures.

  2. Notify local law enforcement.

  3. Notify WeTip (Sue Mandell, WeTip’s National Director, at 909-987-5005 ext. 250.) for any crime; nothing is too small. Request a custom posters from WeTip (provide the who, what, when, where. Include a picture of damages, composite of suspect, etc. if available).

  4. Make announcements over the school PA. Make an announcement that a crime has occurred and that anyone with information can contact WeTip and be eligible for a cash reward. No one will ever know who you are; not us, not ever!

  5. Post flyers around the school district and the around the community.
